After a successful inaugural event, Day on the Lawn returns to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical to play host to legendary Australian rock outfit Something for Kate, songstress Vera Blue, Kim Churchill and a range of local artists on Saturday March 24, 2018.

With over 20 years experience, the Melbourne band Something for Kate, has released iconic songs such as ‘Monsters’, ‘Three Dimensions’ and ‘Harpoon’, and number 1 albums ‘The Official Fiction’ and ‘Desert Lights’.  The band is renowned for their live show having toured the world and played some of the world’s biggest stages, fronted by Paul Dempsey, an encapsulating performance is always expected.

Having been born in the same year as Something for Kate was founded, Vera Blue at just 23 years old has made a big impact over the last few years.  After coming third on the TV show The Voice Australia, Vera Blue released two EPs and in 2015 her single ‘Hold’ peaked at number 5 on the Spotify viral top 50 chart and in 2016 she sold out all 8 dates on her first headline tour.  She also features on Illy’s single ‘Papercuts’ that peaked at number 2 on the ARIA charts.

A typical musical journeyman, Kim Churchill has travelled the world with his guitar.  His songwriting certainly reflects this and he fast carved a name out for himself across the world.  You can hear songs such as “Second Hand Car” on radios across the nation.  He has played iconic festivals such as Bluesfest and Woodford Folk Festival, and supported Billy Bragg.

The all-ages licensed event will feature craft beers, local favourites, selection of Tasmanian wines and the best food trucks Hobart has to offer.  This combined with some of Australia and Tasmania’s best music acts, overlooking the beautiful Derwent River.

This is a Licensed/All Ages event.
